Cells and microscope Flashcards
What is in an animal cell
Cell membrane
Nucleus
Cytoplasm
Cell membrane
Controls what enters and exits the cell
Nucleus
Brain center of the cell allows the cell to function
Cytoplasm
Jelly like substance where the chemical reactions take place
What is in a plant cell
Cell wall Chloroplasts Vacuole Cell membrane Cytoplasm Nucleus
Cell Wall
It protects the plant cell
Chloroplasts
It traps sunlight to make photosynthesis which is used to create energy for the plant.
Vacuole
Stores food and water
Red blood cell
They carry oxygen around the body. They have certain adaptions to help them do their job: Special pigment-haemoglobin. Special doughnut shape. Only animal cell without a nucleus.
Nerve cell
Carries messages around the body-to and from the brain.
Nerve cells are very long this is their adaption.
White blood cell
They help to fight infections-if we get ill they come to help fight the microbes.
Many different types of blood cells each having a different adaption.
Sperm cell
They fertilise the egg cell.
It’s adaptions:
Pointed head to break through the eggs cell membrane.
Tail to help it swim through the blood.
Contains mitochondria helps to release energy during the process of respiration.
On a microscope the image is…….
Larger, inverted and back to front.
What does the microscope do?
It magnifies the image.
Eyepiece lens
Magnifies the image
