A

-Controls the rate, timing and force of movement (voluntary?) -Tone of muscles - coordinates the muscles of equilibrium

Archicerebellum, in diagram bottom: balance Palaeocerebellum, medial part : muscle tone Neocerebellum, lateral : control of precise rate timing and force

What are the inputs to the different parts of the cerebellum?

A

Archicerebellum: vestibular system (vestibulocerebellar fibres) Palaeocerebellum: muscle spindles (DSCT) and golgi tendon organs/proprioreceptors (VSCT) ( spinocerebellar fibres) Neocerebellum: cerebral cortex -> pontine nuclei (pontocerebellar fibres)

Cerebellar note what type of output is cerebellar? (inhibitory/excitatory)

A

Archicerebellum: Out to Lat Vestibular nucleus and then to LMNS Palaeocerebellum: goes to certain nuclei which take information to LMN’s (reticulospinal path) Neocerebellum: nuclei to thalamus (GLUTAMATE. excitatory), then to UMN area 4 and 6 to then LMN.
