Kant’s Categorical Imperatives

- Do not use for ones own purpose
- Acts should contribute and be consistent with universal law, but good act must be done freely
Imperative Principle
directs a decision maker to act according to a specific unbending rule
Utilitarian Principle
Determines the ethics of conduct by good or bad consequences of action
Generalization Principle
based on the question “what would happen if all similar people acted this way under similar circumstances
Cultural Relativism
defines good as that which contributes to the health and survival of society
Moral Pluralis
balance between absolutism and relativism
