WHEN IS AN A/C COLD SOAKED

A

Cold soaked is defined as an aircraft in ambient temperature of -30°C (-22°F) or below for
more than 8 hours. Cold soaking is the effect of cold fuel in the tanks causing moisture to be
present on the upper and lower wing surfaces. If fuel temperature is 0°C (32°F) or below, it is
possible to have clear ice or frost on the wing with the ambient air temperatures above
freezing. The wing surfaces must be below freezing temperatures for frost to form, even
though the ambient temperatures may be above freezing.

A

WHEN MUST WE USE A/I FOR TAKE OFF

A

When an aircraft is wet due to light rain or mist and the icing definition of “visible moisture”
and “less than 5°C (41°F)” is satisfied. The limitations require the use of wing antiice
for takeoff `

If the aircraft is wet because it has been cleaned with hot water but there is no visible
moisture in the air, then the wing is at the same risk of being contaminated

A

A runway is considered to be contaminated, when more than 25% of the runway
surface area (whether in isolated areas or not), within the required length and
width being used, is covered by more than 1/8 inch of standing water or slush, or
its equivalent in slush or wet snow.

AFT CARGO OVHT EICAS Message`

A

When the AFT CARGO OVHT message is shown, the AFT CARGO Switch should be left in
the COND AIR position and both PACKS should be selected ON in cooling mode. This will
provide cool air to the cargo compartment and the message will disappear as soon as
temperature reaches 29 ± 2°C (85 ± 5°F).

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN a windshear warning occurs

A

(a) Immediately set maximum thrust.
(b) Ensure flight spoilers are retracted.
(c) Follow FD commands smoothly and precisely, respecting stick shaker.
(d) Do not change landing gear or flap configuration until the vertical flight path is
under control and follow the escape guidance until the windshear condition no longer
exists.

WHAT DO WE DO WHEN WE GET A WINDSHEAR CAUTION

A

Gusty wind conditions not associated with downdrafts may occasionally
trigger a windshear caution during an approach. Immediately accomplish a
normal go-around maneuver

***unless flight path control is acceptable and the
condition can be positively assessed as not related to thunderstorm or
microburst activity.

WINDSHEAR ESCAPE MANUVER ON T/O

A

(a) Thrust levers/TOGA Switch ……………………………… ADVANCE/PRESS
Advance thrust levers to go-around thrust while simultaneously pressing either
takeoff/go-around (TOGA) Switch.
1 Go-around guidance provided on PFD.
NOTE Pilot monitoring shall verify the following:
• Either TO or GA is displayed on both PFDs, and
• N1 indications are at go-around thrust.

(b) Flight director………………………………………………………………. FOLLOW
go-around guidance.
(c) Current flap configuration ……………………………………………..MAINTAIN
until:
WINDSHEAR caution message goes out, or airspeed is 200 KIAS.
