DEFINE human resource management
A system if recruiting employees to the business, where they are then trained, developed and rewarded for their efforts. The responsibility of HRM lies with the firm’s HR manager.

Outline Step 1 of HR planning
Review current staff: Manager reviews current staff and their qualifications, skills and experience.
Outline Step 2 of HR planning
HR manager forecasts the number of employees and the skills that will be needed to fill all future roles at the firm.
Outline Step 3 of HR planning
Estimate labour turnover: HR manager estimates the number of employees who will leave the business.
Outline Step 4 of HR planning
Create HR plan: Sets a plan to ensure firm has correct number of employees
Needs more - recruits extra staff
Needs less - some employees are made redundant
Different skills needed - recruits new staff or trains existing staff
Outline Step 5 of HR planning
Review plan: Plan is reviewed regularly. If it no longer meets the needs of the business, changes can be made.
