What was a long term cause of the civil war?
Slavery was a huge problem in the south and the mistreatment of slaves
The north and south has such different opinions - the north mainly believed in freedom and government ( democrats ) where as the south seems to be stuck in their own ways and essentially need the slaves to do the farming.
The westward expansion - the arguèrent over will this new land be a freeman political outlook or have slaves
What was the short term causes of the civil war?
Election of Lincoln in 1860 - his ideology angered the southerners due to his republican veiws, Lincoln was extremely pro human and was a strong believer in freedom, white southerners felt this was a threat to their economy and feared the white supremacy was over - leds to the setting up of the southern confederacy in South Carolina when they left the unions in December of 1860, Lincoln didn’t reconcile this and refused to write this as a state in government.

Economy shift around led to multiple unanswered questions and how society was going to change in the south.
New laws- 14th and 15th Amendment with the reconstruction 10% plan however they where easily overcome with was around to avoid making african Americans 2nd class citizens

What was the significance of the civil war?
States remained as a political entity and that the civil war helped to test whether freedom could work in the USA
What battles in the civil war was a turning point
Battle of Antiertamtam , Maryland
Battle of Gettyburg, Pennsylvania
Siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi
How did the North win the civil war
After ther siege of Vicksburg, the North Union was able to block of the southerner ports, which blocked their main trades this means the economy collapsed shortages of medicine and war supplies.
The North was able to win due to the role of AA, when they ran away it meant that the south lost their main labourers also the north was able. To gain way more men a whooping 200,000 enlisted by the end of the war
Why was the Battle of Antiertam important during the civil war
This battle was important as it was the best victory for lincoln to use to consider the emancipation proclamation on the 22 sept with out making it look like the republicans was desperate
What was the Emancipation Proclamation
This bill freed slaves which where in the rebellion states. The bill wasnt going to be issued until lincoln had a clear victory ( which was the Battle of Antiertam) the bill was issues in 1863.
What was the idea of reconstruction?
The ten% plan wanted to reunited the south and north, this would also help to bring the north supporters together which eventually make the confederates surrender, the ten % plan ( Lincolns idea ) he wanted 10% of southern confederate state voters to come back into the union and swear and oath of alleginance whic hwoyld led to the establishment of a new government, all southerners would be pardoned except for the confederate army officers and government officials.
What did the radical republicans want in reconstruction
They wanted the wade - Davis bill which stated southereners could rejoin the union if they could get 50% of its voters to swear and oath it safeguarded the african Americans but it didnt give them a right to vote - lincoln didnt agree to this as he felt it would upset the southerners and the war wouldnt end, he was able to avoid this bill to be passed by pocketing- veto which blocked the bill
What did the freemens bureau achieve
The freemen’s bureau included Lincolns gernals to help resettle the escapees by buying them food and giving them abandoned and stolen land they also settled up school for african Americans all over the south in which 250,000 people attended
