What are interviews?
Speaking to staff to find out their opinions on the design of a system, and their requirements.
What are questionnaires?
A list of questions sent to users and staff, for the staff to answer questions, giving their opinions on things.
What are observations?
A process of studying how a staff member works, and how they interact with a system.
What is document analysis?
Looking at existing documents to help analysts gain an insight into an organisation.
What is business process modelling notation?
This is a graphical representation of workflow in a business.
What is structured systems analysis and design methodology?
SSADM was developed to provide a standard methodology for developing UK government IT projects.
What is PRINCE2?
PRINCE2 is a structured methodology aimed at the successful management of a project.
What are entity relationship diagrams?
ER diagrams are used in designing relational databases, they show the relationships between data in tables.
What are data flow diagrams?
DFDs show the movement of data through the hole organisation.
What is a test harness?
A test harness is a collection of software configured to perform tests on a module of a program.
What is volume testing?
Volume testing tests that the new system works with large volumes of data.
What is scalability testing?
Scalability testing tests that the system will perform as required even if the system has to deal with an increased workload.
What is prototyping?
Prototyping is producing a scaled down version of the software, which is used to show how the new system will work.
What is multiplatform testing?
Multiplatform testing tests that the software can be used with a variety of hardware specifications.
What is a simulated environment?
A simulated environment tests that the software can be used in a day to day situation.
