Chapter 11 Pt 2 Flashcards
Biceps brachii
O=long head originates from tubercle above glenoid cavity of scapula
I=radial tuberosity of radius and bicipital aponeurosis
A=flexes forearm at elbow joint, supinates at radioulnar joint and flexes at shoulder joint
Brachialis
Flexes forearm at elbow joint
Brachioradialis
Flexes forearm at elbow joint. Supinates and pronates forearm at radioulnar joints to neutral position
Triceps brachii
O=long head-infraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Lateral head-lateral and posterior of humerus
Medial head-posterior surface of humerus below groove for radial nerve
I=olecranon of ulna
A=extension of forearm at elbow and extension of arm at shoulder
Acroneus
O=lateral epicondyles of humerus
I=olecranon of superior portion of shaft of ulna
A=extension of arm at elbow joint
Pronator teres
Pronates forearm of radioulnar joint and weakly flexes forearm at elbow joint
Supinator
Supinates forearm at radioulnar joint
Flexor carpi radialis
O=medial epicondyles of humerus
I=metacarpals 2 and 3
A=flexion and abduction of hand at wrist joint (radial deviation)
Palmate longus
Weakly flexes hand at wrist joint
Flexor carpi ulnaris
O=medial epicondyle of humerus and superior posterior border of ulna
I=psiform, hamate and base of metacarpal iv
A=flexes and adducts hand (ulnar deviation)
Flexor digitorum superficialis
O=medial epicondyle of humerus, coronoid process of ulna and ridge along lateral margin or anterior surface of radius
I=middle phalanx of each finger
A=flexes middle phalanx of each finger at proximal interphalangeal joint, proximal phalanx of each finger at metacarpophalangeal joint and hand at wrist joint
Extensor carpi radialis longus
Extend and abducts hand at wrist joint (ulnar deviation)
Extensor digitorum
O=lateral epicondyles of humerus
I=distal and middle phalanges of each finger
A=extension of distal and middle phalanges of each finger at interphalangeal joints, proximal phalanx at metacarpophalangeal joint and hand at wrist joint
Extensor carpi radialis
O=lateral epicondyles and posterior border of ulna
I=metacarpal v
A=extends and adducts hand at wrist joint (ulnar deviation)
Iliocostalis group
Iliocostalis cervicis
Iliocostalis thoracis
Iliocostalis lumborum
A=together they extend and maintain erect posture of vertebral column in respective regions
By themselves, they laterally flex vertebral column of respecting regions to same side as contracting muscles
