What is sharecropping? What are the negative effects of sharecropping?
A
Sharecropping is where a sharecropper promises to grow crops for an owner for a share, but then has to buy things from the owner such as clothing and tools. When the crops are sold, the sharecropper is still in debt to the owner so he promises to plant more the next year.
Negative effects include that the sharecroppers are always in debt and are basically a slave and that the owners could lie about prices and raise them whenever they wanted.
