Supports the body protects vital organs; provides attachment for muscles(movement) produce cells(white and red blood) and stores other materials for the body

Contains internal body functions with hormones
The skin has three layers
Dermis,Epirdermis,Hypodermis
Epirdermis
Contains specialized cells called melanocytes which produce the melanin and pigment
Dermis
Is the middle layer and contains blood,vessels to thermoregulate; contains connective tissues to help cushion the body; contains Fibroblasts which produce the proteins elastins;contains mechanoreceptors,nerve endings, to sense pressure and temperature;collagen gives the skin resistance to strain while elastin makes skin elastic
