Q

Interdependence

A

is how organisms depend on each other for survival

E.G.
Buttercups need on Bees and Bees need Buttercups

Q

Decomposers

A

Organisms that feed on dead plants and animals e.g. earthworms , bacteria fungi. (Decomposers are very important as they break down dead things and release of lots of minerals

14
Q

Competition

A

occurs when two or more organisms seek a resource that is limited.
E.G. plants compete for light water minerals and space .
Animals compete for shelter territory and mates.

15
Q

Adaptations

A

Adaptations are features that give an organism a better chance of surviving in their habitat

16
Q

how are dandelions adapted to its surrounding

A

Dandelions adapted by long roots and they can spread their seeds in the wind

17
Q

how have Hedgehogs have adapted

A

hedgehogs have an excellent sense of smell , spikes to fight off predators and they are camouflaged

18
Q

Conservation

A

Is the Protection , preservation and careful use of our national recourses

19
Q

Our natural resources

A

Our national resources include land rivers seas plants and animals

20
Q

If we dont protect

A

These environment they could be destroyed and plants and animals may become extinct

21
Q

Pollution

A

Pollution is adding unwanted waste to the environment causing damage to it.

22
Q

Pollution

A

If a poisonous waste builds up it may kill a certain plant or animal

23
Q

Air Pollution

A

Caused by smoke dust and harmful gases most of these come from cars , buses , factories and power stations

24
Q

Acid rain

A

When fossil fuels are burned they produce gases called carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide . These dissolve in rainwater to form carbonic acid and sulfuric acid

25
Q

Damage acid rain can do

A

Dissolve plants and buildings

26
Q

Soil pollution

A

Caused by pesticides , artificial fertilisers and acid rain .
These chemicals sink into the ground and can be Absorbed by plants .

27
Q

Water pollution

A

Rivers , lakes and seas are polluted by fertilisers , sewage , oil and Detergents .

28
Q

Household waste

A

Can create rubbish

29
Q

Medical waste

A

Can cause a disease

30
Q

Industrial waste

A

Can cause toxic chemicals

31
Q

Nuclear waste

A

Can cause radioactive (disease)

32
Q

Incinerator

A

burning the waste , this can release dangerous gases into the atmosphere, difficulties with location nobody wants to live near an incinerator

33
Q

Landfill

A

Burying the waste in the ground - damages soil , rivers and ground water , attracts rodents , disease causing , bad smell , difficulties as nobody want to live near them

34
Q

Recycling

A

Paper, glass , some metal and plastics can be processed and reused. (Made into something else ) . This reduces damage to the environment.

35
Q

3 R’s

A

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to make sure that we do not damage our environment and that future generations will have a nice place to live

36
Q

Reduce

A

Use your own bag , do not pick the items with extra packaging
