what is asbestosis?

A

type of pneumoconiosis, asbestos is a group of minerals composed of microscopic fibers, used for insulation. asbestos causes chronic lung inflammation. can cause lung cancer there is a lapse of 15 to 19 years between exposure and cancer

what is coal miners pneumoconiosis?

A

“black lung” is caused by inhalation of coal dust. the substance is ingested by macrophages which releases substances that cause cell injury or death.. fibrosis occurs from tissue repair after inflammation resulting in pulmonary fibrosis
