  • bruning resigned in July 1932 and Hindenburg appointed another centre party politician, Franz Von Papen
  • Von Papen lacked support, so he called an election
  • the results were astonishing, the nazis were now the largest political party

  • hitler demanded the chancellors job
  • Hindenburg refused as he thought the nazis were a disruptive party and used article 48 to give Von Papen the job back
  • Von Papen called another election in november 1932
  • votes for the nazis fell but they were still the largest
  • Von Papens party got fewer seats too, so he resigned again
