Paranasal sinus
Frontal sinus, ethmoidal air cells, sphenoidal sinus, maxillary sinus
Components of the vertebral column?
Cervical, thoracic, sacrum, coccyx
Scoliosis
Abnormal lateral curvature of the spine
Kyphosis
Excessive out word curvature of the spine
Lordosis
Excessive inward curvature of the spine
Ligaments
Provide support to the vertebra
Intervertbral disc
Provide cushioning to the spine
Herniated disc (slipped disc)
A vertebral disc that is displaced, pressing on to nerves in the back
Structure of vertebra
Each vertebra column consist of a body, or centrum, anteriorly and a vertebral arch
What are the seven different cervical vertebra?
Identified as C1-C7
Spinous process
Is bony projection off the posterior back
Transverse process
A lateral process of the vertebra
Transverse foramen
An opening on the transverse process of a cervical vertebra
Superior articular facet
The articular surface of the inferior articular process of the vertebra
Coccyx
A small triangular bone at the base of the spinal column
Sacrum
A small triangular bone in the lower back formed from fused vertebra
Angle of rib
The abrupt change in curvature of the body of the rib
