Choosing A Test Flashcards
What is a statistical test?
-determine whether a significant different or correlation exists
What 3 factors decide what test is used?
- is it difference or correlation
- if its a difference, what experimental design is being used
- level of measurement
What are the 3 options of experimental design?
- independent groups
- repeated measures
- matched pairs
What are the 2 related designs?
- repeated measures
- matched pairs
What is the unrelated design?
-independent groups
How do I remember the tests?

What are levels of measurement?
-quantitative data can be divided into nominal, ordinal + interval
What is nominal data?
-data is represented in the form of categories
-discrete - only 1 items appears in 1 category
What is ordinal data?
-ordered in some way
-doesn’t have equal interval
-lacks precision
What is interval data?
-based on numerical scales
-includes unites of scale
-public scales of measurement
