Pilgrimage
A journey to a religious or holy place.
Shrine
A holy place
Vision
Seeing or hearing something or someone holy
Set prayers
Sing hymns or say prayers from a set text. They follow a pattern.
Informal prayer
This type of prayer is most common in evangelical and charismatic churches. It does not follow a set script.
Private prayer
Praying in a private place, like your home.
Speaking in tongues
Some Christians believe that them Holy Spirit makes them speak in tongues.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a continuation of Baptism.
Eucharist
The priest prays for God’s blessing, which makes the bread and wine holy.
Marriage
It is the legal union between a man and a woman. They promise to love each other until parted by death.
Taking holy orders
Catholic men receive a sacrament called holy orders which establishes a hierarchy.
Reconciliation
You turn away from sins that trouble you. You can confess and have the priest grant absolution.
Anointing
It is done when someone is nearing death. It is applying oil to a person head as a sign of holiness and God’s approval.
Satan
One of God’s angels who rebelled against the rule of God.
Intercession
Prayers for those who are suffering.
