A

Benevolent means God is all loving and caring. We can see this as God gave the world his only son, Jesus.

What does Just Judge mean?

A

Just Judge Is that God judges people’s actions fairly. Those who reject him and live sinful lives will be punished. As shown in the story of the sheep and the goats . But God forgives people who are sorry for their sin (atonement) and become faithful to him. The story was of the prodigal son shows God will forgive anyone who returns to his ways.

A

This means that God is a person, albeit an almighty and divine person. If God is personal, then a relationship is possible through prayer - which could be a conversation with God.

What are Roman Catholics?

A

The Catholic Church is the oldest Church in the western world. It can trace its history back for almost 2000 years. Roman Catholics are spread across all continents.

Roman Catholics respect the authority of the Bible and Church tradition. They also respect the authority of the pope and his teachings.

The seven sacraments are very important to their faith.

What are Protestants?

A

Protestants base their beliefs and practices on the Bible, rather than Church tradition or the teachings of the Pope.

In England and Wales, Protestant denominations that are not part of the Anglican communion, are often called non-conformists. These include Methodists,Baptists and the Society Of Friends (Quakers).

  • Depending on the version, the Old Testament has 39 books which include the creation story and the Ten Commandments.
  • These are Jewish Scriptures and are considered by the Jews.

A

The New Testament is The specifically Christian part of the Bible. It’s 27 books include the 4 Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). The Gospels are accounts of Jesus’s life. The acts of the Apostles and the letters of St Paul describe the early years of Christianity.

A

The Trinity is the idea that God exists in three persons - the Father, The Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit.

A

•For many Christians, God the Father is the God of the Old Testament. He created Heaven and Earth and sustains them. God the Father might be described as the transcendent part of God.

•The title ‘Father’ is a mark of respect for God, and is used by Jesus in The Gospels
