Clacton Procedures Flashcards

1
Q

You transfer traffic to S2, what are it’s release conditions?

A

All traffic to S2 is released for climb, regardless of it’s Filed Flight Level or Requested Flight Level, once passing abeam LOGAN. Traffic is released for turns up to 20 degrees either side of it’s track only if transferred on it’s own navigation.

Q

If the direct telephone lines and the OLDI links both fail simultaneously between LAC and Maas/AMS/Brussels what are the procedures?

A

Aircraft will contact LAC and pass their own estimate a minimum of 5 minutes before transfer of control point. If an entry clearance cannot be given the aircraft will transfer back to the previous agency and advise, the previous agency will then hold the aircraft for 10 minutes, before asking the aircraft to try again with LAC. If this fails then they are to be held for a further ten minutes before trying again.

13
Q

If level capped aircraft request higher, what are the procedures?

A

Transferring agency will ring S14, point out and pass details of aircraft. S14 Planner will assess if traffic is quiet enough to accept extra (aircraft will not show on TLPD/traffic flow). If so S14 will force offer aircraft to themselves and contact TC to inform that the aircraft will be working S14, and to coordinate an exit level.

Q

If Maastricht are split, what considerations would you give aircraft on parallel headings before transferring?

A

If one aircraft is climbing to the high sector and another to the middle, ensure the higher climbing aircraft is out of any levels prior to transferring, as the middle sector may turn their aircraft and not know of the higher climbing one.

29
Q

An AMS outbound climbs above FL245+, is it still released for turns?

A

Yes, but only to the left in Delta’s airspace

30
Q

How far south can you vector an AMS outbound?

A

Only to the AMS S3 line, if you cross that you need to coordinate with AMS S3 as traffic is unknown. If AMS S4 have transferred you aircraft vectored into S3 then no action required as AMS will have internally coordinated.

31
Q

How far can you vector AMS inbounds?

A

Only within 5nm north of south of REDFA. Any further requires coordination.

32
Q

What phrase should you not use if resuming an aircraft on it’s own navigation to REDFA?

A

“REDFA arrival”

33
Q

Where will a NAVPI flight route?

A

To NAVPI position and no further south than 5nm of NAVPI due to the proximity of P155.

34
Q

Who is responsible for separation of traffic to Maastricht vs. a NAVPI crosser?

A

S12. You must ensure you have climbed your outbound to above the level of the NAVPI crosser before transfer, or alternatively stopped the aircraft off underneath and coordinated with Maastricht, pointing out the crosser.

35
Q

What is the electronics procedure for accepting a NAVPI crosser?

A

At least 10 minutes before, Swanwick Mil (East) will send a CFP. They do not require acceptance before transiting the aircraft, the CFP is merely for information reasons.

36
Q

If North Sea work the NAVPI crosser, how does this affect procedure?

A

North Sea will ring S12P to point out the aircraft and pass it’s estimation (time at NAVPI, flight level, type, RVSM status). S12P will point out using crosser function to S12T.

37
Q

What is the NAVPI contingency?

A

NAVPI contingency is the automatic blocking of FL270 & FL280 for use of crossing, may occur during particularly heavy workload when individual aircraft details cannot be passed. This activates the “corridor” to the north of BARMI/LEDBO and south of ENITO/BUKUT. The S12P will display a laminate strip.

38
Q

When NAVPI contingency in effect, what levels should be planned out for S12 outbounds to NSEA? What levels should be avoided when planning for Maastricht?

A

Aircraft must be able to make FL290 or above by ABEDA, or alternatively FL250 underneath and transfer to NSEA for higher. FL270/FL280 should not be planned for Maastricht. It is S12 responsibility to get the aircraft either above or stopped off underneath the NAVPI crosser and coordinated.

39
Q

What standing agreements are cancelled during NAVPI contingency?

A

The ABBOT arrivals via BARMI - unless NSEA can push the traffic down to FL260 5nm after BUKUT to ensure separation. Expect FL290 to be coordinated and you may have to cancel the standing agreement at MEGEL with TC due to late descents. The EGKK standing agreement at BARMI is also cancelled.

40
Q

When else would NAVPI contingency be enacted?

A

If the phoneline to the Dutch Military is lost.

41
Q

You have a primary only expected to transit the London TMA Array. Who would work that?

A

Southend Radar

42
Q

What are the levels of the BRASO hold and what standing agreements are cancelled when in effect?

A

BRASO hold levels are FL180 - FL240 (no higher allowed). Standing agreement FL240 at LOGAN for EGLL, EGWU, EGHI, EGHH, Farnborough Group (Blackbushe, Dunsfold, Farnborough, Lasham, Odiham and Fairoaks) and EGTC is cancelled. EGKK isn’t cancelled but it may be if required - the route is not separated from BRASO hold so caution when vectoring EGKK inbounds.

43
Q

What are the levels of the LAPRA hold? What may happen if holding at LAPRA?

A

LAPRA hold is from FL150 - FL210. Any further disruption and you can expect TC to ask you to start holding ABBOT’s out, maybe at IDESI/RINIS or even further back.

44
Q

What are the levels of the LOGAN hold in S14? Any considerations?

A

FL220 - FL240 are the S14 levels, though coordination with TC must be effected as these levels are in their airspace. It is strongly recommended to leave FL220 free to allow ABBOT/LC/KB/MC inbounds through.

45
Q

What are the levels of the LOGAN hold in S13? Any considerations?

A

FL250+ available. Standing agreement between S14 and S13 for AMS/BRU outbounds (FL290 up) is cancelled and the NSEA FL300 BARMI standing agreement is also cancelled. Recommend that you leave FL260/FL270 free for AMS/BRU outbounds to be able to get through.

If split may need to inform S12 of higher level holding (FL310ish)

If Shoebury range is active (EGD138/EGD138A) then certain levels are unavailable. EGD138 - FL330 down to min overflying level. EGD138A - FL280 down to min overflying level.

Any holding at FL370 or above requires coordination with S2 due to track distance infringing their airspace.

46
Q

Details of the CLN hold?

A

Not a published hold in the AIP but if holding required then up to FL240 and TC will inform Clacton. Right hand turns.

47
Q

Details of the BARMI hold?

A

Not a published hold in the AIP, if holding required then S12 to liase with NSEA and advise them when holding aircraft are released. Minimum hold level is FL290 to allow for NAVPI. All standing agreements with NSEA cancelled. Hold is not separated from the EAMTA.

48
Q

BRASO holding heading?

A

263 degrees LH

49
Q

LAPRA holding heading?

A

245 degrees RH

50
Q

LOGAN holding heading?

A

289 degrees LH.

51
Q

When the EAMTA is active, what route should traffic follow via SIVDA?

A

On or south of the P155 centreline

52
Q

When AEW Lobes in the EAMTA are active, what route should traffic follow via SIVDA?

A

If not vertically separated then 1nm south of the P155 centreline.

53
Q

How much notification do the AEW Lobes require for activation?

A

30 minutes

54
Q

How are the EAMTA High activation times/levels promulgated?

A

Via NOTAM

55
Q

What are the levels of the Lakenheath ATA?

A

FL195 in Clacton’s airspace (bordering LEDBO/BARMI) and FL245 in NSEA’s airspace (north of LEDBO/BARMI)

56
Q

Do you need a clearance to enter the Lakenheath ATA?

A

No, but not recommended due to potential high military traffic activity (Class G in Clacton). TC airspace below however.

57
Q

What are the levels used by the military when the AEW Lobes are active?

A

FL290 - FL330

58
Q

Which airfields are part of the standing agreement on S12 of climbing to FL230?

A

EGLL, EGWU, EGGW, EGKK, EGKB and Farnborough outbounds

59
Q

Which airfields are part of the standing agreement on S12 of climbing to FL210?

A

EGSS, EGSC, EGLC, EGMC and EGTO.

60
Q

What available bandbox configurations are there for Clacton?

A

Any combination of Clacton sectors (12/13/14)

Any combination of North Sea sectors with Sector 12 only (10/11/12), including bandboxed

Clacton and North Sea fully combined

Clacton and Daventry fully combined (no splits at all)

61
Q

Who is the the Military contact for Clacton?

A

Swanwick Mil South East

62
Q

If a Brussels outbound has filed FL210- and requests FL220+ what are the planner actions?

A

Amend Field 8 to new flight level and strip will generate. If they don’t then force offer.

63
Q

Which routes in Clacton are CDR1?

A

L179 (through KEGIT) and L610 (through BULAM)

64
Q

When L179 and L610 are shut due to EGD138A/D activity, where shall flights route to?

A

SASKI-LOGAN (L179) or LOGAN (L610). Only KK inbounds shall continue on L610.

65
Q

If Maastricht Koksy or Brussels vector aircraft into the Koksy buffer zone, what are the conditions associated with this?

A

You can assume the traffic has been coordinated with Dover/LUS and traffic is released for right turns on contact. It is not released for descent or climb without coordination with either Maastricht, S15 (305-) or S2 (305+)

66
Q

What is the routeing for a EGSH/EGYM (Norwich/Marham) inbound?

A

IDESI-BANEM to expect to leave controlled airspace at BANEM.

67
Q

Traffic filed M14/L613 (GILDA-STOAT traffic) at FL280 - can it go this route?

A

No, only if a EGNT/EGNV/EGPD inbound FL245+

Flights into or overflying Scottish TMA at this level have to be FL285+ to use this route, otherwise a reroute further on.

68
Q

What is route T999?

A

An emergency evacuation route to be used in the event of sustained system failure at Swanwick LAC. Enables traffic to exit TMA airspace via TC East to the north and be transferred directly to PC East. S12 will not take part in this but should be aware.

69
Q

EGUL (Lakenheath) and EGUN (Mildenhall) will route via where?

A

IDESI-LAPRA

70
Q

How many RNAV1 routes are there in the Clacton sectors?

A

5x. The three main arteries (NOGRO, ABNED and GALSO), a fourth branching between ABNED and AMRIV for those KK inbounds that turn down and a fifth going eastbound from BRAIN to REDFA.
