CASE STUDY - ICELAND

Negative effects of climate change in Iceland

A
  • tourist industry will suffer
  • an increase in storms which then sea levels will rise which causes flooding
  • in the long term the decrease in glaciers will reduce the HEP production

Q

CASE STUDY - ICELAND

Positive effects of climate change in Iceland?

A
  • melting glaciers feed rivers and increase the amount of hydro-electric power
  • At 1’c increase would allow farmers to grow crops, wheat and therefore allowing them to rear more sheep and cattle
