How could you structure your essay to achieve full marks?

Q1. Evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies being used to overcome specific barriers that may prevent women from becoming football officials. [8 marks]

A

An effective approach is to write a paragraph that focuses on a single point, within this paragraph move from AO1 to AO2 to AO3 for each point you make. For example.

Paragraph 1

AO1 (identify) - A barrier that effects the number of females becoming officials in football is a lack of Role models.

AO2 (Apply)- There are currently a limited number of female officials (role models) and the majority of these work in the women’s game which is not covered extensively in the media

AO3 (Evaluate)- by increasing the media coverage of women’s football/female officials this will increase the number of role models for other women to look up to, the outcome of this would be more female officals.

Paragraph 2

AO1 (identify)- A strategy that could counter barriers for potential female football officials is to provide education to overcome stereotypes.

AO2 (Apply)- This could help remove the social stigma that suggets females do not belong in football because it is a physically strenuous sport, as people will appreciate women are capable of being officials.

AO3 (Evaluate)- The outcome of this would be that women would be less likely to face prejudice like sexist comments, which would create a more inclusive enviornment and increase the number of female officals.

Positive AO3 point = Social media can help to promote female role models in football, particulalry within officiating. The outcome of this will be more young girls will see women officiating which will help them believe they can do the same thing, which will lead to more female officials.

Negative AO3 point= While social media can be used to build support networks and provide information there is an increased risk that it may also be used to make sexist comments which will negatively impact the number of female officials
