Conclusions Flashcards
1
Q
What are the potential limitations of an investigation?
A
- Time - may have been insufficient time to complete the tasks or they may have been carried it out at the wrong time of day/year.
- Place - the location may have been unsuitable due to access, size, scale, health and safety risks or natural or human barriers.
- Physical - poor weather, difficult slope angles, mud, rivers, vegetation or barriers.
- Human error - some may have underperformed or misunderstood their task.
- Equipment - may have been faulty or provided inaccurate data.
- Methodology - sometimes the methodology may have been flawed from the start due to planning.
2
Q
What are some suggestions for improvement?
A
- Repeating the investigation at different times of the day, week or year to see if results differ.
- Repeating the investigation in different areas, so that the results can be compared with other areas and produce a conclusion which relates back to the specific hypothesis.
- Taking a larger sample of data.
- Taking into account variables.
- Using a better methodology which should be a response to limitations that had been identified earlier in the section.
- Improve the equipment used - improve equipment or its effectiveness or use completely different equipment.
