important in speech
sensory info from upper face, forehead, scalp, to CNS
mandible elevation for mastication
mandible sensory from lower teeth, hums and lips, portions of the tongue to CNS
sensory from upper face, forehead, scalp to CNS
Maxillary: sensory from teeth, upper lip, buccal, nasal cavities, sides of face to CNS

sensory taste-anterior 2/3 of tongue

function: facial expressions and taste.

temporal, zygomatic- motor info to the muscles of the upper face, bilaterally innervated

buccal, mandibular- motor info to the muscles of the lower face, unilaterally inntervated.

sensory (taste) from the posterior 1/3 of the tongue

motor: to muscles of pharynx for swallowing and parotid gland for salavia

gag reflex, taste and swallowing
