CST Flashcards
CST origin
Motor cortices at the primary MC, premotor cortex, supplementaryt motor area
In thwe midbrain, teh CST is located in the…
Crus cerebri
CST in the pons is in the…
Middle cerebellar peduncle
CST in the medulla rostral
Pyramids
CST in the caudal medukla has…
Lateral decussation here
Corticobulbar tract
Voluntary mvt control of head, face, neck, muscles, of eatin, faces, tongies, cords
Origin of corticpobulbar tract
Head, face, neck of motor cortex
Runs of the corticobulbar..
With the CST terminating on LMNs
Decussation of corticobulbar tracts
Variable
Vestibulospinal tract contains two tract:
Lateral and medial
Lateral vestibulospinal tract
Origin in lateral vestib. Nuclei of pons, projects ipsilaterally, runs thru medulla and into funiculus of spinal cord where it terminates in ventral horn
Medial vestibulospinal tract
Movement of upper extremities, head and neck
Og: ncuelus of rostral medulla
Runs: bilaterally thru fasculus of medulla nad funiculus of cervical spinal cord
Termination: medial ventral horn
Reticulospinal tract
Controls proximal limbs and trunk msucles
OG: RF of pons an dmedulla
Runs: spinal cord in ipsilateral anterior funiculus
Reticular formation division names
Rostral RF and caudal rf, where rostral modulates forebrain, caudal modulates LMN
UMN syndrome
Paresis of affected muscles —> muscle atrophy where clonus can be seen
