Cytokines Flashcards
IL-1-6
Hot T-Bone stEAK
IL-1 Fever
IL-2 Stimulates T cells
IL-3 Stimulates bone marrow (functions like GM-CSF)
IL-4 Stimulates IgE production (and IgG)
IL-5 Stimulates IgA production (and ephils)
IL-6 stimulates aKute-phase protein production
5 Cytokines Secreted by Macs
IL-1 IL-6 IL-8 IL-12 TNF-alpha
3 Major Chemotactic Factors (for nphils, I guess)
IL-8
C5A
Leukotriene B4
IL-12
Induces differentiation into Th1 cells and activates NK cells
TNF-alpha
Mediates septic shock and WBC recruitment
2 Cytokines Secreted by All T Cells
IL-2 and IL-3
Cytokine Secreted from Th1 Cells
IFN-gamma - stimulates macs
3 Cytokines Secreted by Th2 Cells
IL-4
IL-5
IL-10 - decreases inf response, inhibiting T cells/macs/DCs. Also secreted by T regs
Aldesleukin (what it is/does, 2 uses)
IL-2 so stimulates T cells. Used for RCC and metastatic melanoma
Filgrastim and Sargramostim
G-CSF and GM-CSF, respectively, so like IL-3 and used for recovery of bone marrow after chemo
IFN-alpha 4 Uses
Chronic HBV and HCV, Kaposi sarcoma, malignant melanoma
IFN-beta Use
MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
IFN-gamma Use
Chronic granulomatous disease because macrophages lack NADPH oxidase so need
Romiplostim, eltrombopag, and Oprelvekin (IL-11)
Thrombopoietin for thrombocytopenia
