Q

Networked item

A

Item that stores the record ID of a record in another master file.

28
Q

Example of a networked item

A

A physician’s provider (SER) record includes a link to the record in the Department (DEP) master file for the department where he/she practices. As a result, the department record needs to exist before you can create the provider record.

29
Q

Define “dependency”

A

When one record links to another, the second record is a dependency of the first.

30
Q

RED in data courier dependency window (will not be sent)

A

These records do not exist in the target environment and will not be sent.

31
Q

PURPLE in data courier dependency window (will not be sent)

A

These records already exist in the destination environment and are not sent.

32
Q

What to do with purple records

A

Preview records to make sure they are up to date in the destination environment. If a record has been changed in the source environment and needs to be sent, right click and choose “add to selected records.”

33
Q

What to do with red records

A

Before the selected records can be sent, these records must be built in the target environment, then mapped to the original records in the source environment (sync CIDs).

34
Q

Red records in dependencies window: troubleshooting tip

A

check if Advanced Options are in use and turn off if appropriate.

35
Q

Black records in the “will be sent” window

A

These records do not exist in the destination environment and will be sent with the selected records.

36
Q

What to do with black records in “will be sent” window

A

Preview records to confirm the appropriate items are being sent.

37
Q

GREEN records in data courier dependency window (will not be sent)

A

Records already exist in the target environment, but are blocked from updates. Changes must be made manually in the target environment.

38
Q

BLUE records in the dependency window (will not be sent)

A

Standard (existing Epic-released) records in all environments and cannot be edited.

39
Q

Does DC send all category values?

A

YES!

40
Q

What do I do with dependencies that will not be sent?

A
  1. Create record in the target environment. Contact appropriate builder to make sure record exists.
  2. Sync CIDs.
  3. Click Calculate Dependencies to refresh dependencies list. Records should have moved to the existing non-enabled records list.
41
Q

What is data courier?

A

Hyperspace utility used to copy static records or custom category list entries from one environment to another. Data courier can send the same data to multiple environments.

42
Q

What are some of the purposes of data courier?

A
  1. Allow initial data build in non-production settings.
  2. Eliminate the need to manually recreate static objects in multiple environments (copy-downs)
  3. Control what data is copied from one environment to another.
  4. Maintain data integrity when moving data.
43
Q

How do you sync CIDs?

A

Epic>tools>CID mapping util. Prod is “the source of truth”

44
Q

What should be included in the comment field at a minimum?

A

heat ticket # and brief description (INI, application, etc.)

45
Q

How do you verify that a package was SENT successfully?

A

In the SOURCE environment, click Packages Sent activity. Locate the package in the list, confirm status is “complete - no errors”

46
Q

How do you verify that a package was RECEIVED successfully?

A

In the TARGET environment, click Packages Received activity. Locate the package in the list, confirm status is “complete - no errors”

47
Q

After sending a package via data courier, where can you see a detailed report about the package?

A

In Packages Sent activity, click Packet Report or double click on the line for the package.

A

EGC and ECI master files

52
Q

What prevents records from being modified in target environments?

A

Item protection

53
Q

In what environment should all new records be created?

A

REL

54
Q

How does item protection work?

A

Item protection locks the item in the master file and forces the changes to be made in the source environment (REL).

55
Q

What allows certain items to be unlocked for modifications in the target environment?

A

Item Protection Exclusion.

56
Q

True or false: not all categories are item protected

A

FALSE. All categories are item protected, and therefore must be changed in the source environment.

57
Q

True or false: items that are NOT data courier-enabled are not locked.

A

TRUE

58
Q

Prohibiting Record Creation has what effect?

A

Prevents records from being created in target environments. Forces records to be created in the source environment (REL)

59
Q

Where can you look to see if a master file has item protection exclusion?

A

Column J in the TMC Data Migration document

60
Q

Where can you check to see if records have Record Creation prohibited?

A

Column K in the TMC Data migration document.

61
Q
