The Decision Making Model is formed around two main activities, What are they?

What are the 4 stages of the Deciding within the DMM?
- Gathering and thinking about all available information.
- Identifying appropriate objectives.
- Defining a plan.
- Considering the results of evaluations`

Communicating the objectives and plan to all those at the incident.
Controlling the activity.
Evaluating the ‘Outcome’ of the plan.

Who or what is at risk?
What is happening? Is the situation static or developing?
When did it start? (what was it that led up to the event?

When deciding a ‘Plan’ using the DMM, what factors need to be considered?
- Safety issues.
- Involvement of other agencies and their objectives
- Resources available

The planning stage should result in the development of actions designed to deliver the required outcomes with an acceptable level of risk to those involved, these are defined as?
Safe Systems of Work.

What should the IC be considering when ‘Evaluating’ using the DMM?
Evaluate the systems of work and the effectiveness of any control measures. If the risk is still not proportionate to the benefits, then work should not proceed.

How many times should the DMM be applied during an incident?
The Decision Making Model should be continuous through out an event. In the early dynamic stages it may be used many times and as the event becomes more controlled and less dynamic the model may be used less frequently.
