Defects of vision Flashcards
What is myopia?
The defect of vision due to which a person cannot see the distant object clearly.
What is the far point of myopia?
Not infinity
list out the causes of myopia.
- due to high converging power of eye-lens
- due to eyeball being too long or elongated
How can myopia be corrected?
By wearing a spectacles containing concave lens which can reduce the amount of converging power of eye lens
What is Hypermetropia?
The defect of vision due to which a person cannot see nearby objects clearly
list out the causes of Hypermetropia.
- due to low converging power of eye-lens
2.due to eye ball being too short
How can hypermetropia be corrected?
By wearing a spectacles containing convex lens which can increase the amount of converging power eye lens
What is the near point of Hypermetropia?
more than that of 25cm
What do you mean by Prebyopia?
The defect of vision due to which old people cannot see the nearby objects clearly due to loss of power of accommodation
What do you mean by Astigmatism?
Its a refraction error in which a person cannot see both horizontal and vertical views of an object with the same clarity.
What is night blindness
It means a person experiences poor vision when there is low light or in the night time conditions.
list the causes of night blindness
- due to the deficiency of vitamins, cataract, nearsightedness, genetic, etc…
