Script
The written form of a play
Read through
Performers have not memorized the script and go through the script without props or costumes
Blocking
How actors are positioned and move around the stage and keep the scene visually interesting
Upstaging
When an actor comes between another actor and the audience
Crossing
Walking across the stage or part of it
Fading
Moving toward the another area of the stage slowly/subtlety
Off book
When actors memorize their parts and don’t need their script
Prompter
A person who helps actors who forget their lines
Ad-lib
Improvised speech not part of the script
Corpsing
Slang for laughing at inappropriate part of scene

How the stage is set up
Characterization
Taking on a character
Motivation
The reason why a character does something at a point in the story.
