How does racial discrimination link with Crooks’ separation?

Crooks was often left alone and separated from other men which reflects the segregation of races in 1930s America due to the Jim Crow Laws that were initiated from 1876 to 1965 which provided a legal basis for discrimination and segregation against African Americans. To support this, with Crooks being the only black man on the ranch, he’s largely ignored by other men
