D.Principles Of Training Flashcards
There are 7 additional principle s of training, what are they?
Specificity Variation Rest and recovery Progressive overload Adaption Reversibility Individual differences/ needs
Explain what F.I.T.T stands for.
Frequency - how often you train
Intensity - how hard you train
Time - how long you train for
Type- which training method will you use to improve the type of fitness necessary for the performer
Which additional principle of training matches this definition?”Training should be specific to the individual’ s sport, activity or fitness goals”
Specificity
Why is variation important?
Performer is likely to become bored and not enjoy the training if they always do the same activities.
Why must individual differences/ needs be considered?
The fitness level of a performer must be considered before planning the sessions otherwise it will be either too hard or too easy and therefore will not be beneficial.
Why is rest necessary during training?
To allow the body to recover and repair any damage caused by the exercise
Explain the meaning of Progressive Overload.
In order to improve/ progress , training needs to be hard enough to cause the body to adapt / change and so improve performance.
What is the meaning of the word Overload?
Working the body harder than it normally would in order to get fitter
The Overload needs to be Progressive. Explain this.
You should overload a little bit at a time, by either increasing F , I or T. If the increase is too great, there is a risk of injury
What is the definition of adaption?
How the body reacts to training loads by increasing its ability to cope with these loads.
When does adaption happen?
During rest and recovery after a training session.
What is the meaning of reversibility?
If training stops , or the intensity of training is not enough to cause adaption to happen, then training effects are reversed. You will lower your fitness levels.
