What is supply?
The quantity of a g/s that a producer is willing to produce.
What is demand?
The amount of g/s that consumers will buy at a particular price.
What is the law of supply?
Higher price of product, higher quantity producers willing to produce.
What is the law of demand?
Lower price of product, more consumers willing to buy
higher price of product, less willing consumers willing to buy
What is an equilibrium?
Where the law of supply and demand intersect.
Both consumers and producers are happy.
How does the gov participate in the economy?
- Collect tax (income, GST, company and sin taxes)
- provide public g+s
- monitor economic performance- stimulus payments, subsidising certain g+s to encourage consumers to spend on them (childcare, healthcare, higher education)
What is a planned market?
Gov makes most/all of important decisions regarding the production and distribution of g+s.
What is a free market?
Where market is based more on law of supply and demand, rather than central gov regulating productions of g+s
What is a global economy?
Where a country conducts trade w outside regions. They consume and produce g+s from overseas.
Each country must trade w other, resulting in a world of global economy where there are exchanges between producers- who manufacture g+s, and consumers, who purchase the g+s.

What is tourism?
The movement of people to countries/places outside their usual environment for personal/business/professional purposes

What are slums
Settlements, neighbourhoods or city regions that can’t provide basic living conditions necessary for its inhabitants to live in a safe and healthy environment.
What is slum tourism
Type of city tourism that involves wealthier tourists visiting impoverished areas.
It offers a culture shock, mostly to westerners and is debated on its benefits.
What are the pros of slum tourism
Brings awareness Westerners more grateful Generates income Creates job opportunities Awareness small businesses Improves infrastructure Can improve living conditions
What are the cons of slum tourism
Westerners degrading locals
Locals treated less superior
Raising awareness doesn’t equal help or action
Exploits locals- locals used as an attraction

Locals seem to like it, but may not be aware of it
