Unfeathering Procedure (Re-Start)

  1. Fuel Selectors - On
  2. Mixture INOP Engine - Full Rich
  3. Propeller INOP Engine - Full Forward
  4. Throttle INOP Engine - Open 1”
  5. Magnetos - ON
  6. Fuel Pump INOP Engine - Off
  7. Starter - Engage until prop windmills

When Engine Starts:

  1. Propeller - 2500 RPM
  2. Throttle - 15” Hg until engine is warm
  3. Alternator - On

If Engine Fails to Start:

  1. Fuel Pump INOP Engine - On Three(3) seconds
  2. Starting Procedure - Repeat from step 7

Fire During Start on Ground

  1. Cranking - Continue

If engine starts:

  1. Power - 1700 RPM for a few minutes
  2. Engine - Shutdown and inspect for damage

If engine fails to start:

  1. Cranking - Continue in an effort to obtain a start
  2. Throttle - Full Forward
  3. Mixture - Idle Cut Off
  4. Fuel Pump - Off
  5. Fuel Selector - Off
  6. Master Switch - Off
  7. Magnetos - Off
  8. Fire Extinguisher - Activate

Electrical Fire in Flight

  1. Master Switch - Off
  2. Vents/Cabin Air/Heat - Closed
  3. Fire Extinguisher - Activate (if available)

If fire appears out and electrical power is necessary for further continuance of flight:

  1. Vents/Cabin Air/Heat - Open
  2. All Electrical Switches (except magnetos) - Off inc. individual avionics
  3. Avionics Master Switch - Off
  4. Master Switch - Off
  5. Circuit Breakers - CHECK for faulty circuit, do not reset
  6. Avionics Master Switch - On
  7. Radio/Electrical Switches - On one at a time, with delay after each until short circuit is localized

Electrical Failure Both Overvoltage Lights Illuminate

  1. All Electrical Switches (except Master Switch) - Off
  2. Avionics Master Switch - Off
  3. Alternators - Off
    a. Individual Alternator - On the Off one at a time
    b. Alternator - Turn On the alternator that showed the LEAST output
  4. Avionics Master Switch - On
  5. Electrical Switches - On one at a time, do not exceed 50 amperes
  6. Flight - TERMINATE as soon as practical

If both alternators show approximately equal output (less than 50 amperes)

  1. Alternators - On
  2. Electrical Equipment - On
  3. Resume Normal Ops

  1. All Electrical Switches (except Master Switch) - Off
  2. Avionics Master Switch - Off
  3. Malfunctioning Alternator - Off
  4. Malfunctioning Alternator - On then Off to confirm output is excessive
  5. Electrical Load - REDUCE
  6. Flight - TERMINATE as soon as practical

Alternator Failure

A
  1. Electrical Load - REDUCE, remain below 50 amperes
  2. Circuit Breakers - Check and Reset
  3. INOP Alternator - Off then On

If step 3 fails to restore output:

  1. Electrical Load - Below 50 amperes
  2. Flight - TERMINATE as soon as practical

Vacuum System Failure

A
  1. Engine RPM - Increase to 2700
  2. Altitude - Descend until 4.5” Hg is possible
  3. Flight Instruments - CROSSCHECK with Turn Coordinator

Propeller Overspeed

A
  1. Throttle - Idle
  2. Airspeed - 105 mph
  3. Propeller - Reduce to a low setting
  4. Throttle - Increase slowly until governor engages
  5. Propeller - Increase slowly with throttle to desired setting
  6. Flight - Terminate as soon as practical, maintain reduced power and Airspeed

NOTE: If the throttle is retarded below 15-20” Hg at speed above 105 mph, the propeller may overspeed again upon reapplying power. If this occurs, follow the same procedure to regain propeller control.

Emergency Gear Extension

A
  1. Circuit Breaker - Checked
  2. Airspeed - At or Below 100 mph
  3. Landing Gear Handle - Down
  4. Emergency Extension Valve - Pull
  5. Landing Gear - Check Down & 3 Green
