Q

What causes signs and symptoms of endocarditis to develop?

A
  • Toxic effects of the infection
  • Destruction of the heart valves

Q

How does Infective Endocarditis occur?

A
  • Microbial infection of the endocardium
  • Deformity or injury of the endocardium
  • Results in colt formation on the endocardium
  • Infective organisms invade the clot & form lesions
  • Vegetation’s (lesions) form & can become thromboemboli
