Energy Flashcards
What is energy measured in?
Joules (j) or kilojoules (kj)
What is gravitational energy?
The energy an object gains when it is lifted higher.
What is elastic energy?
The energy stored in a wound up or stretched spring.
What is kinetic energy?
The energy an object has because it is moving?
What is chemical energy?
The energy stored in fuel, food or batteries.
What is electrical energy?
The energy carried with electrical current
What is light energy?
Allows us to see things
What is heat energy?
The energy that makes things warmer, melts solids and boils liquids
What is sound energy?
Energy produced when an object vibrates and makes a noise.
What is nuclear energy?
Energy from within an atom that is used in nuclear power stations.
What is the law of energy conservation?
Energy can not be created or destroyed, only changed from one form to another
