Q

what are the main energy resources available for use on earth

A
  • non-renweable: fossil fuels (coal, oil, gas) and nucluar fuel
  • renewables: bio-fuel, wind, hydroelectricity, geothermal, the tides, sun and water waves

Q

why are some energy sources more reliable than others

A
  • non-renweable resources can be used at any time
  • some renewable resources such as solar power are dependent on how sunny it is
  • Hydroelectricity cannot work is reservoirs are dry
  • tidal cannot work all the time becuase it is dependant on if the tide is low or high
  • wind and waves will be too weak on calm days

6
Q

why does energy demand vary

A

at certain times of the day more or less energy is required so higher or lower rates of energy generation are required
