Fate quote 1:

A

“All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis!
All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!
All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!” - Witches to MacBeth - Repetition: As the witches chant these words we are lead to believe that the witches are challenging or changing fate in some way. During the Jacobean era people believed in the “Great chain of being” this being a social hierarchy. It was believed that to become king you must be born into the the bloodline, but the witches are saying that MacBeth will somehow inherit the throne.

Fate quote 2:

A

“I dare do all that may become a man” - MacBeth to Lady Macbeth - Symbolic language: Macbeth is stating that he will do anything that he is required to be a man. He does this in order to retain his manly qualities but the use of the word “may” implies that he does not believe that he is doing the right thing. This plays into the theme of gender, and also fate. His fate is being controlled by the manly attributes that were present at that time.
