- Embryo donation- both egg and sperm donates fertilised via IVF then inserted into wife’s womb
- Surrogacy- UK illegal for money to be involby in procedure

- IVF - the embryo is sometimes destroyed- sanctity of life

- some may disapprove of unmarried, elderly or same sex couples
May agree because…
- Catholics allow methods that do not threaten sacredness of life
- AIH or IVF - with sperm or egg from couple
- Jesus healed people, we should do the same
- “Be fruitful and multiply” Gid says this in the book of Genesis - follow Gods teachings

Islamic attitudes towards fertility treatments

May agree because…
- I fertility is regarded as a disease so try find a cure
- child rearing is an important family commitment
- the social status of a Muslim woman- her self-esteem and her place in society and her family is closely related to her abikty to have children
IVF and AIH are allowed because they use sperm and egg of married couple and embryos that are destroyed are at 14 days so aren’t classes as humans as Islam teaches the soul doesn’t enter the body until 120 days
May disagree because….
- If it is the will of Allah for a couple to not have a child then they should accept this and not have artificial treatment
- adultery with third person
- surrogacy violates the marriage, mother is who gives birth to the child
