What is an expression?

A

A statement made of algebraic terms. It had no equals sign. Eg. 5x + 3b

What is a formula?

A

A rule linking two or more variables. Eg. P= 2l+2w (perimeter of a rectangle)

What is an equation?

A

An equation has an unknown that can be solved. X+4=10 is and equation, the solution is x=6

What is an identity?

A

Two expressions that are equivalent. a+a+a=3a is an identity

What is factorising?

A

The opposite of expanding brackets. It means to put the expression back into brackets.
