Escessive leakage Flashcards

1
Q

Define the following types of leakage:

Identified

Unidentified

RC pressure boundary

Intersystem

A
  • Identified: Captured and collected in a sump(anything routed to RDT). Must be to monitored sump and location known. SG tube leakage is identified.. If interferes with detection systems it is NOT identified.
  • Unidentified: Leakage into containment atmosphere. anything NOT considered identified.
  • RC press boundary: welds, metal, valve body, or wall leakage that is not isolable.
  • intersystem: connected system that is isolatable. not addressed by TSs

State the TS limits of the following:

Identified leakage

Unidentified leakage

PB leakage

pri to sec leakage

A
  • Identified: < 10 gpm
  • Unidentified: < 1gpm
  • PB leakage: any

Q

What is the methodology of Excessive RCS leakage actions?

A

Start all CHPs

Isolate LD

If Lpzr continues to lower, trip the Rx.

Q

State the TCA associated with a LD line break and include what alarms will trigger the operator actions?

A

If Regen HX Temp HI, LD line press low or LD line rad monitor low flow alarm, the operator will isolate LD outside of containment within 10 minutes of the start(alarm).

Q

State the TCA associated with a rising trend on RU-1 and what action is required.

A

Within 60 minutes of a rising trend on RU-1, operators must initiate an RCS leak calculation.

6
Q

What precaution must be observed when dispatching an operator to locate an RCS leak?

A

Changing radiation levels and conditions in the plant spaces. RP should accompany the AOs.

Q

How is a charging header leak mitigated?

A

Stop all CHPS,

align CHPs to the alternate discharge.

Isolate LD.

Perform actions for loss of charging or LD.

Q

What is the flowpath of alternate charging and what are the consequences of these ineups?

A

Train A uses the cold leg HPSI injection and will render that train of HPSI inoperable as well as, if dP across teh LPSI injection valves is > 1525psid, that train of LPSI. This is the preferred line.

The alternate line is the B train or Long term recirc and is a last resort due to thermal transients on the nozzle.

Additionally, Seal inj and aux spray are not available during alt disch lineups. LD will be lost due to no RGHX flow.

Q

How does a SGTL affect SBCS and aux steam operation?

A

In order to minimze releases to environments, SBCS valves 1007 and 1008 are disabled. The affected unit will be isolated from other units aux steam systems.
