20
Q

What separation must you apply for IFR a/c under surveillance service from an restricted airspace for forest fires

A

5 miles, 1,000’

21
Q

Max take-off weights

A

Light: 7,000 kg or less
Medium: more than 7,000 kg but less than 136,000 kg
Heavy: 136,000 kg or more

22
Q

A

Boeing 757

23
Q

What are the wake turbulence separation minima

A

S H M L
S 4, 6, 7 ,8
H 4, 4, 5, 6
M - , -, -, 4

24
Q

How much outside of your airspace must you display?

A

At least 15 mile outside sector boundaries.

25
Q

What is the main difference between SSR and PSR

A

SSR requires an aircraft to have a functioning transponder.
PST relies on reflected radio waves.

26
Q

Validate altitudes…

A

On initial contact
As soon as feasible, if the readout is not displayed or cannot be validated on initial contact

27
Q

If the altitude cannot be validated

A

State the altimeter setting and attempt to validate the altitude again
Instruct the pilot to reset their transponder
Instruct the pilot to turn of Mode-C

INFORM THE ADJACENT SECTOR AND THE RELIEVING CONTROLLER

28
Q

What is required to give an aircraft direct the first fix inside terminal?

A

-The aircraft is cleared for the balance of the appropriate STAR
-The aircraft’s route remains within the arrival gate at the terminal boundary
-The enroute controller puts the SFI ‘X’ on the aircraft

The enroute controller assures separation for any departures out of Edmonton terminal

29
Q

Edmonton enroute provides Edmonton terminal with in-trail spacing for……

A

Similar performance aircraft
Greater than 220kts filed airspeed
Landing the same runway

30
Q

Vertical may be applied between aircraft arriving to Edmonton terminal that are….

A

Landing at different airports
Planning different runways provided:
-the aircraft landing at the closer runway is lower
-the appropriate SFI’s are applied

31
Q

When to state altimeter settings twice?

A

If the altimeter setting is 28.99 or lower or 31.00 or higher state the altimeter setting twice

32
Q

If the altimeter is _______ ________

A

One hour old or more

Include the time of the report

33
Q

How many levels does our radar weather have?

A

Two levels of precipitation and lightning

34
Q

BPOC

A

Before Proceeding On Course

35
Q

Once you have performed a point out verbal coordination is required before making changes to an aircrafts:

A

Route (flight path)
Altitude
Speed
SSR code (data tag)

36
Q

What is the correct phraseology to instruct an aircraft to switch to another frequency of yours?

A

CHANGE TO MY FREQUENCY ____

37
Q

Express speed adjustments…..

A

in multiples of 10KIAS, unless the aircraft is a turbojet operating in high level airspace in which case assign a Mach number

38
Q

Instruct aircraft to resume normal speed when a speed adjustment is no longer necessary. ________ automatically cancel speed restrictions. If you need to adjust speed while on an approach….

A

An approach clearance.

Restate the speed adjustments

39
Q

List some CAATS functions that can help maintain situational awareness. (7)

A
  • Tag highlights
  • Altitude colours
  • EXCDS cues
  • DME estimates
  • Lists
  • Handoff warning and handoff persist
  • PTL all
40
Q

Decode EXT

A

Extended Tag Key

41
Q

List the seven specialties in the Edmonton ACC

A

43
Q

What are the vertical dimensions of low level airways?

A

Low level airways extend from 2,200 ft AGL to below 18,000 ASL

44
Q

Prior verbal coordination is required for changes to an aircraft’s CAATS profile when the aircraft is….

A

30 miles or less (50 for Winnipeg centre) from the common boundary between RADAR sectors

45
Q

What altitudes are in the CYOD extension over the South Sands?

A

7,000’-10,000

46
Q

What is the FLTID?

A

Flight ID - An editable field transmitted by a Mode-S transponders that the pilot can enter prior to takeoff, usually matches the ACID. If it does not match the ACID the flight plan will not link and two targets will be displayed (an ADS-B target and an extrapolated target). Instructing the pilot to change the flight ID to match the ACID will cause the flight plan to link.

47
Q

What are the ADS-B emergency codes an what do they mean?

A

EMR - Emergency
RDO - Comm failure
HIJ - Unlawful interference
GAS - Low fuel
MED - Medical emergency

48
Q

What does a 4 digit cyan code above an a/c’s data block mean?

A

SSR code does not match. Instruct the pilot to switch to the displayed code.
