What is classical conditioning?
-learning through associations
Pavlov’s dog
-food = UCS - drooling = UCR
-food + bell becomes CS = CR
-example of classical conditioning
What is operant conditioning?
-action is carried out which trigger a response
-eg. Child cries = mother comforts with food

-food = primary reinforcer
-mother = secondary reinforcer
What is Bowlby’s monotropic theory?
-evolutionary theory of attachment - states you are innate
What is ASCMI? (Monotropic theory)
A = adaptive - bonds are beneficial to survival
S = social releasers - cute baby face unlock innate tendency for adults to care
C = critical period - where attachment can form up to 3 years old
M = monotropy - 1 carer - only form 1 special intense bond
I = IWM - mental schema for relationships
-allows you to know how to behave - our own perception of the attachment with PAF
