The problem in the response tasks is that, possibly, you measure the effect of giving a response instead of actual consciousness.

Information/features taht are no longer independent of each other
What happens in other areas of the perceptual field interferes with the percept. Goes beyond what is physically there. Eg illusory contours, ambiguous stimuli and many other illusions.
