Q

Why has society become more child-centred?

A

People have less children so have more money or time to spend on each child. The media sees children as a target audience.

What policies help families?

A

Family tax credit- reduces child care cost, encourages people to work. Only available for people who work
Child benefits - £20 a week for the first child however might not be used towards children. Discriminated against lone parents because if 2 parents earn £49,000 and 1 £50,000, the lone parent wouldn’t be eligible
