What is the procedure for Negligent Discharges?
Immediately ensure there are no injuries.
Secure the weapon in the current state prior to discharge.
Immediately notify the on-duty supervisor.
ANNUAL Firearm Inspection
Conducted annually by a firearms instructor or rangemaster / armorer shall inspect each weapon during qualifications.
Quarterly Firearm Inspection
Supervisors shall inspect subordinate officers issued firearms to ensure they are maintained in a clean and serviceable manner.
Annual Qualification FAILURE process
Anyone who fails to qualify on their FIRST attempt shall immediately receive remedial instruction and allowed a second attempt. Officers who fail a second attempt, shall be placed on remedial training and be removed from patrol / investigative duties until standards are met.
