A

: respiratory, GI, GU, some skin & soft tissue, used after exposure to Bacillus anthracis (anthrax)

adverse effects

A

: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sleep disturbances, headache, dizziness
More serious: dysrhythmias, hepatotoxicity (particularly with moxifloxacin)
Avoid MVI & supplements, administer ~ 4H prior to antacids
Void in pregnancy & children (impact cartilage formation)
Tendinitis & Tendon rupture (Achilles) > 60 & corticosteroid therapy

ciprofloxacin (Cipro)

A

Primary use: UTI, sinusitis, pneumonia, skin, bone, joints infections, prophylaxis of anthrax
Effective against some strains of MRSA
Well absorbed orally & QD or BID
Excreted Renally (hydration)
