A 12-month period during which an organization plans to use its funds. For local governments, this term generally runs from July 1 to June 30.
Fiscal year
A two-person unit that responds to working incidents to track fire fighters operating in immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH) environments and to monitor the medical status of members who rotate through the rehabilitation sector during an event.
Fire Ground Location (FGL) program
An itemized summary of estimated or intended expenditures for a given period, along with proposals for financing them.
Budget
Proposed increases in spending to provide additional services.
Supplemental budget
The level of funding required to maintain all services at the currently authorized levels, including adjustments for inflation, salary increases, and other predictable cost changes.
Base budget
A certificate of debt issued by a government or corporation; guarantees payment of the original investment plus interest by a specified future date.
Bond
A special service district created to finance the fire protection of a designated district.
Fire tax district
An organization whose mission is to establish and improve the standards of state and local governmental accounting and financial reporting, thereby resulting in useful information for users of financial reports, and to guide and educate the public, including issuers, auditors, and users of those financial reports.
Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB)
The act of spending money for goods or services.
Expenditures
The income of a government from all sources.
Revenues
A budget format in which expenditures are identified in a categorized line-by-line format.
