  2. Sheffield University study in 2014 said that quality of allotment soil is better than most commercial arable farms
  3. Rising prices have led to long waiting lists, not everyone has access to them.

Green Revolution:

  1. A large scale attempt to introduce high yield varieties during the1960s
  2. Not seen as a success
  3. Use of machinery meant that people lost traditional employment
  4. Increased production, lower prices, lower farmer wages
  5. Diesel pumps were provided for irrigation, used up ground water even faster, farmers couldn’t afford to repair them or buy fuel

  2. Social premium paid to local producers
  3. This ensures that farmers get their fair price
  4. Protects their income from fall and encourages them to farm sustainably
  5. Also funds improvements for the community like water supply.
