What was another name for the Ruhr?
The Ruhr was the industrial heart of Germany, and was within the demilitarised zone of the Rhineland
Why did France take over the Ruhr and what did they do?
In January 1923, Germany failed to pay back reparations to France and Belgium
This resulted in the French and Belgium soldiers taking goods from the Ruhr instead of waiting for the reparations
How did the German people react to the French Occupation of the Ruhr?
The German workers went on strike
What did the government do?
The government backed the workers and decided to start printing more money to pay the strikers
What did the printing of money lead to?
Printing extra strike money, as well as the collapse in production resulted in inflation, which then turned into hyperinflation
