Frustration aggression hypothesis - Displacement Flashcards
What is Displacement?
When we redirect our aggressive behaviour towards someone or something else.
First factor…
Proximity to the goal
What is the proximity to the goal?
The closer we are to the goal the more likely we are to behave aggressively if our goal is blocked.
What is the second factor…
Affectiveness of behaving aggressively.
What does the affectiveness of behaving aggressively mean?
More affective aggression is for us to reach a goal the more likely we are to behave aggressively.
What is the 3rd factor?
Justifiability.
What is justifiability?
Reduced aggression if the frustrating situation blocking their goal is justified.
Increased aggression if the frustrating situation blocking their goal is unjustified.
