(What) The chair is split up into different sections. (Where) We can see this in the brackets at the back of the chair which allows more movement to the user. (Why) This gives the chair more flexibility. This makes it more comfortable to sit on and allows the user more movement.

(What) The stregnth of the chair has been taken into account. (Where) We can see this in the seperated parts of the chair which help to distribute the pressure absorbed between them. (Why) This was to increase the durablility and reduce the chance of the chair breaking after a long time in use.

(What) The back of the chair has a tilted/bent structure to provide back support. (Where) We can see this visually, as the chair is slightly reclined to help with sitting and getting up from the chair. (Why) The structure helps to provide more support to the user’s lower spine, which is useful in keeping the user’s back healthy when using the chair.

(What) The balance has been considered in the design, of the eames chair. (Where) We can see this in the star shape that spreads out arms in five directions. A simillar shape can also be seen on the ottoman. (why) The design helps to spread out the weight of the user, reducing the chance of the chair falling over and makes the user feel more secure.
